Lyrics - Ten Days in June

IMG_6447

My little girl has grown up fast,
The make up and the high heels and the glass,
Remember her first day of school,
The steps she took, her joy in all the rules?
She learned and grew and thrived and laughed,
Her braided hair fell long into her lap,
Miss curious they said of her,
She sought the question as much as its answer...

The days are long but the years are short,
And soon the rules had become her chains,
The growing pains pushed her to push away,
Freedom was her cry,
From what, from me?
Just the freedom to be me...

And those ten days in June,
I knew they would come, but they came to soon,
My little girl has grown up fast.

Oh son, my son, you’ve grown up fast,
Your days of innocence are in the past.
Remember your first fight with Tom?
He wouldn’t yield to you the book you love,
but now you fight for gold and chairs
No childish graces in the pride you wear
You’ve taken a young one to wed,
Full knowing that she’ll serve and e’er say yes.

The days are long but the years are short,
And soon the rules had become your chains,
The growing pains pushed you to push away,
Freedom was your cry,
From what, from me?
Just the freedom to be me...

And those ten days in June,
Oh son, my son, you’ve grown up fast.
